Privacy policy

What data we process, why, on what basis and for how long, and how to exercise your rights.

Version 1.0-beta · In force since 28/09/2026

This is a translation. The Spanish version is the binding one; in case of discrepancy, the interpretation most favourable to the consumer prevails.

1. What you type in a check

PatitasID works without registration. What you type in a check (names, identifiers, microchip numbers, dates, IBAN, amounts, phone, address, website) is sent once to our server, used to calculate the result and discarded. It does not stay in databases, activity logs or analytics, and it does not appear in the web address. The result has no address of its own and only you see it.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest, which is also yours, in preventing deception in the adoption and purchase of animals (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

2. Other people’s data

Some data you enter may relate to another person, for example a seller’s IBAN. We process it only at the moment of the query: we do not build profiles or combine it with other data. You have usually received it from that same person, and both your interest and ours is to prevent deception involving animals.

Anyone whose data may have been entered can exercise the rights in section 7 of the General tab.

3. What leaves our server

Two checks need to query an external service while we answer you: the address you type is sent to the CartoCiudad geocoder of Spain’s National Geographic Institute, and a website’s domain to the registry service for its zone (RDAP; for example, Verisign for .com and .net). We send nothing else, we do not tell them who is asking and we do not keep what you typed. If you prefer that data not to leave, leave those fields empty: the other checks work the same.

If you press the button to look up a microchip on Europetnet, that number travels to their website with the link and stays in their logs. It only happens if you press it, we warn you first, and the result does not come back to us.

4. What is stored

  • Organisation data published in official registers under a re-use licence, at entity level only: name, registration number, tax identifier, legal form, municipality, registration date and status. Some official files also include personal data (board members, founders, addresses, phone numbers, emails): it is discarded when the file is read, never reaches our database, and the file is deleted when the import finishes.
  • Aggregated daily statistics: how many checks of each type are made and with what result, by country. No one’s data.
  • Proposals to the moderation queue: only the entity’s name, identifier and registration number, with no data about who proposes it.
  • Correction requests, with your consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): the text and your email, so we can reply.
  • In your own browser, and only if you choose a country or dismiss the country suggestion: that preference. It does not leave your device.

5. Analytics

Only if you accept analytics cookies do we measure how often each step is used, without sending any field value. The aggregated statistics in the previous point use neither cookies nor personal data.

6. Periods

What you type in a check: not kept. Rejected proposals: 90 days. Correction requests: 3 years from closure; after that the contact details are anonymised.

7. No automated decisions

PatitasID does not make decisions about people or build profiles of anyone. We do not take decisions based solely on automated processing within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. If an automatic filter has restricted your listing on the platform, you can ask for a person to review it.

8. Corrections and rights

If a check affects you and you believe it does not reflect reality, ask for a correction (opens in a new tab). To exercise your data protection rights, see section 7 of the General tab.
