How PatitasID works

PatitasID helps you check verifiable facts before handing over money or receiving an animal. It rates no one.

What we promise

  • To check whether an organisation is listed in an official register, with the name of the source and the date of its data.
  • To analyse the data you enter against published rules and their source.

What we do not promise

In no country does public data cover the premises where the animal lives, the breeder as a breeder, the transporter, the adopter or bans on keeping animals. PatitasID does not check them.

What we never do

  • Scores, blacklists or verdicts on people or organisations.
  • Checking a person’s identity against a document.
  • Looking up an animal’s owner by microchip: official services do that.
  • Querying closed systems or copying databases whose automatic use is forbidden.

The two possible answers

Every check ends with one of these two sentences. There is no third.

  1. “Confirmed in [source] as of [date]” — what matched is shown underneath.
  2. “Could not be confirmed. Check it here: [link]” — with the reason and its usual causes: data missing, the source did not answer, the data you entered do not fit together (often a copying mistake), you need to run the search yourself, or it is not listed in the source as of its date.

Order of the lines

Within each group, what is worth checking comes first; confirmed facts come last. Nothing worth checking is ever hidden.

Data date

Each source has its data date, which is not the date you run the check. If a copy is too old, we do not say “not listed”: we send you to the official register.

Matching by name

  • A matching name alone never confirms anything: someone can use a real organisation’s name. Confirmation needs the identifier or the registration number.

Corrections

If a check concerns you and you believe it does not reflect reality, request a correction. We reply within 48 hours.
