Frequently asked questions
Is an adoption fee normal?
Yes, it is common and usually set out in the contract. You can always ask what it covers.
Where does the average cost come from?
From Purina’s page on the cost of adopting a dog in Spain: about €180 for puppies under 4 months, about €100 for adults up to 7 years, and dogs over 10 are often given free. It is a brand’s average, not a maximum price, so we never use it to flag anything.
Why is €400 mentioned?
Because the Spanish Criminal Code (art. 248) treats deceptions of up to €400 as a minor offence. If you pay that amount or less, keep the receipt and the full conversation anyway.
Can a Bizum payment be cancelled?
No. According to the Banco de España and Bizum itself, the payment is immediate and cannot be cancelled once sent.
